Three Professional Resolutions for 2016
Usually New Year’s resolutions are aimed at improving personal things like reading more books, going on a diet and increasing physical activity. These types of resolutions do not directly impact your professional success, unless you happen to own a gym.
Here are three changes to make 2016 professionally fulfilling.
- Hone your visual design skills
Visual content is always going to be an important factor in business, online or otherwise, so why not look into some tutorials and become familiar with creating infographics and using tools like Photoshop?
Having at least a passing familiarity with visual design tools can save you both time and money. Why hire or contract out a simple project to a visual design artist when you can do the job yourself and get exactly what you want for the price you want.
- Take in more outside content
Taking the time to read a blog or listen to a podcast related to your professional interests is a great way to broaden your horizons and more importantly take you out of the professional bubble you might be living in.
Outside content is a great way to pick up different strategies for success. You might even hear a paradigm that could solve a problem you’re facing.
Podcasts are an especially easy medium to get into. They are a growing medium because they are so easy to produce, so you will likely find one that suits your professional needs and you can just have it on in the background and absorb it while you work.
- Develop a mobile strategy, stop putting it off
A mobile content strategy is now something that is a must-have in 2016.
In April of last year, Google changed the way it ranks websites in its search. Google now takes into account whether or not your website, landing page and blog are optimized for mobile users and ranks it higher or lower on a results page accordingly.
If your website is not optimized for mobile users, this is a 2016 resolution you cannot afford to ignore.
