Target aims at trick-or-treating

It is the time of year when many parents are getting ready to take their children trick-or-treating on Halloween.Target has released a new app for trick-or-treaters who are out for the most candy.

Treatster

Treatster is a social media Halloween app which allows users to review the best “haunts” in their neighbourhood.

Users can add a particular local address to the map on the mobile site by placing a spooky Halloween pumpkin on that location on the map, the more users who up-vote an address; the larger it appears on the map. Each user can only vote for an address one time.

“(Treatster) is the future of trick or treating,” Target claims. “Treatster is the world’s first social network designed exclusively for parents to help take their kids on an exceptional candy quest.”

Target is also encouraging people who really go all-out for Halloween to add themselves to the map on their mobile site, to raise the profile of their residences for users in their neighbourhood.

A candy arms race inevitable?
The real winners from Treatster are going to be the kids, even if their parents are the primary users. Neighbours very well might want to compete to have the best candy, and therefore, hopefully get the most Treatster reviews.
